Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai Announce Management Team .Patrick Martinez Appointed as General Manager

26th August 2013 – Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai is delighted to announce several new additions to its management team.  Kempinski Hotels, the European luxury hotel group took over the management of the former Gran Meliá Hotel Shanghai in Pudong, and subsequently rebranded it as the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai on 15 May 2013 becoming the group’s 18th property in China. The newly appointed executive team brings extensive experience and expertise to manage this flagship property and strengthen its presence in Shanghai.

Patrick Martinez has been appointed as General Manager. A seasoned hotelier, Patrick brings more than 20 years of luxury hospitality experience to the hotel. Prior to his appointment, Patrick held a variety of General Manager and senior management positions with Marriott International, InterContinental and Rotana Hotels.

Patrick has the experience and drive to enhance Kempinski’s outstanding reputation for European flair within the city,” said Philippe Caretti, Kempinski Senior Vice President China.

Kempinski is also pleased to announce the appointment of David Traynor as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai. Formerly the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Shangri-La Hotel and Traders Hotel in Macau and previously the Assistant Vice President of Sales at Sands China Ltd, David is now responsible for developing and executing Kempinski’s market development, sales and new business plans.

 

Björn Nöldner is the new Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage at Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai. In his most recent position, Björn was the Executive Assistant Manager responsible for Food and Beverage at the Hotel Baltschug Kempinski, in Moscow.
Michelin star-winning Executive Chef Mattias Roock also joins the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai team. Chef Roock has formerly worked at the Michelin-starred, Gordon Ramsay-affiliated restaurant Claridge’s in London as Chef de Partie and has further earned one Michelin star and 17 Gault Millau points for restaurant Cà d'Oro as the Executive Chef of Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz.
