17th December 2013 (Shanghai, China) – The third ORBIS “Through Your Eyes” Charity Gala Dinner was held on 15 December 2013 at Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai. A total of RMB 948,900 was raised from the event. All of the proceeds from the gala event will go towards ORBIS’ 2014 sight-saving programme in Heilongjiang, Guangdong and Yunnan Province, including donating medical equipment to county hospitals, training doctors and other medical professionals, screening in villages and rural communities, as well as subsidising surgeries for underprivileged patients.
Participants included famous actress, Wen Hong, Miss Earth 2013 Lisa Xiang, Lolo Jiang, Haifa Zhang, as well as ORBIS corporate donors FedEx, Standard Charter Bank, Omega, Jebsen Group, Nova Group, together with 200 celebrities and philanthropists in support of ORBIS’ sight-saving programme in mainland China. As the official ORBIS 2013 gala dinner partner, Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai extended its support as the host venue and accommodation provider.
On behalf of Kempinski Hotels, General Manager of Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai shared a speech at the Gala Dinner. “Social responsibility and supporting our local communities has been a cornerstone of the Kempinski Brand ethos. We are proud to host the third ORBIS Charity Gala Dinner and to help more people in need.”

Thanks to the generous donations from philanthropists and corporate sponsors, the following items were up for auction during the gala: calligraphy artwork by Abbot Guangchuan of the Linying Temple, a sculpture created by famous artist Xu Jin, Liverpool FC jersey with team signatures and Hong Kong dollar bills with lucky serial numbers donated by Standard Chartered Bank, Bower & Wilkins 804 Diamond Loudspeakers donated by B&W, POLA makeup series donated by POLA, a traditional Chinese painting donated by Ms Ren Sai.
