Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai is the only hotel in China that is involved in the production of this much anticipated movie. “Mrs Lu” is written by Zhang Xiaoxian, one of the famous female authors, and directed by Gao Xixi, whose most recognised movies include Shanghai Bund (2007), Three Kingdoms (2010) and Legend of Chu and Han (2012).
“Mrs Lu” is a love story of Xing Lu (Liu Yifei) and Xu Chengxun (Rain). Xing Lu is a descendant of a declined aristocratic, who lives a normal life until the day she met Xu Chengxun, a young impoverished talented artist. This encounter changed their lives completely. To better illustrate the story, a 100,000 RMB curtain set was built in the 705 square metre pillarless Suncuba Ballroom for filming to compliment the luxurious setting of the Hotel. In addition, Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai also provided various locations for the filming, including the Facade, Lobby, Superior City View Room, Diplomatic Suite, Presidential Suite and Executive lounge to support the production of the movie as well as catering a crew of 120 people. The Hotel was also delighted to host Ms Liu Yifei in the Diplomatic Suite.
Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai is centrally located in the Lujiazui financial and trade section of the prestigious Pudong district and offers sweeping views of the Huangpu River and the Shanghai skyline. Within walking distance to the Oriental Pearl Tower and only a short drive away from the Jinmao Tower, The Bund, and other well-known landmarks of Shanghai. The Pudong and Hongqiao airports can also be reached within 45 minutes.
Executive Assistant Manager at Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai and the Hotel’s Lady in Red also participated in the movie to showcase Kempinski’s experience.
Director Mr Gao Xixi shared “It has been a wonderful experience filming at Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai, the collaboration was a great success, and we look forward to presenting the film to the audience in November 2014.”
