Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel unveils a specially bred rose to celebrate its operation in Nairobi, as well as to commemorate Kenya’s golden jubilee.
The Lovely Jubilee Rose, which has been christened The Kempinski Kenya Rose, is a lovely pink rose that matches the facade of Villa Rosa Kempinski Nairobi.
“We feel privileged that an internationally recognised rose has been named for Kempinski. The innovative process that went into breeding this beautiful Kempinski Kenya Rose reflects our commitment to luxury service,” said Bernard Mercier, General Manager of Villa Rosa Kempinski Nairobi and Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara. “The Kempinski Kenya Rose will be used in floral arrangements at our hotels and given to our guests.”
Kempinski and Interplant Roses (Leersum, the Netherlands) partnered to create this unique rose, which was bred in the Netherlands, but is grown in Kenya and sold in international markets, particularly in Europe.
The process of creating hybrid roses can take 7 - 10 years of painstaking work. Robert Ilsink, Director of Interplant Roses and creator of the Kempinski Kenya Rose said: “Interplant Roses is a well-recognised rose breeder with more than 40 years’ of experience. The Kempinski Kenya Rose has a unique pink colour and a 12 -14 day vase life. Its good petal size makes it ideal for floral decorations.”
Pink roses have a rich history and usually create impression of grace and elegance, as well as sweetness and poetic romance – values that Kempinski Hotels espouse as one of Europe’s oldest luxury group.
