Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara is located in the Olare Orok Conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara National reserve and is home to an abundance of animals including all the big cats for which the Masai Mara is famous. Rarely does a night pass by in the coservancy without lion roaring adjacent to your tent, our resident neighbours Acacia the Cheetah and Narasha the Leopard also frequent the surroundings of the property.

Location

The Olare Orok Conservancy covers an area of 21,386 acres directly adjoining the Maasai Mara National Reserve to the south and is an area of outstanding beauty and importance for wildlife. It encompasses the lower river valleys of the Olare Orok and Ntiakitiak rivers, together with the associated riverine woodland. The Olare Orok Conservancy also features the impressive Ntiakitiak Gorge and a beautiful escarpment of some 12 kms in length. Below the escarpment are extensive areas of acacia woodland, which are important habitats for a number of wildlife species.

Directions

The Olare Orok Conservancy can be accessed by air, there are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi or alternatively guests can travel by road Via Narok, a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended. Flying time to Ol Kimombo, the airstrip in the Masai Mara used for guests staying in the Olare Orok Conservancy is 1 approximately 1 hour from Nairobi. Travel time by road to the tented camp is 6 hours.
