Kempinski and Bahrain City Centre Host ‘Cookies for a Cause’ Charity Event

Kempinski and Bahrain City Centre Set to Create the Longest Trail of Cookies for the Benefit of a Local Charity in Celebration of the Season

Manama, December 5, 2013: Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre and Bahrain City Centre Mall are embracing the spirit of the season by hosting ‘The Longest Trail of Cookies’ charity event at the mall’s Winter Wonderland display.

The public are invited to visit the winter display on 9th December to experience a unique way of conveying the joy of giving. Children and adults alike are requested to help in creating ‘The Longest Trail of Cookies’ ever done in Bahrain. Guests can buy a cookie for BD1, write their name on it and hang it on to the trail surrounding the display.

“Cookies for a Cause is a great initiative that we are pleased to be a part of this season. Bahrain City Centre is committed to the local community, and we encourage families to visit the mall to share in the creation of the cookie trail while spending time with family and friends,” said Duaij Khalifa Al Rumaihi, Senior Mall Manager for Bahrain City Centre.

The entire proceeds raised through the sale of the cookies will be donated to needy Bahraini families through well-known local charity, the Palm Association. The cookies themselves from the trail will be distributed to Salmaniya Hospital’s children’s ward the following day. Each cookie will have the name of the donor written on it to delight the child receiving it.

“We are thankful to Kempinski and Bahrain City Centre for their support towards the Palm Association. With the money collected from this initiative we are able to buy food or household items for Bahraini families who have fallen on hard times” says Tina Hunt from the Palm Association. “We also look forward to seeing the smiles on the children’s face when they receive the cookies!” continued Ms Hunt.

Starting from December 6th, every Friday and Saturday from 2-5pm throughout the month, families are invited to participate in another charitable activity. Kempinski Chalet at the Winter Wonderland will host gingerbread decorating for the kids. By decorating a cookie for BD2, people can feel great knowing that they’re again helping disadvantaged Bahraini families through the Palm Association.

“With the spirit of the season, we at Kempinski are pleased to be part of spreading the joy and happiness around us. We are positive that last year’s success with the cookie decorating will be repeated again this year. It is wonderful to see the children have fun decorating the cookies, knowing that their merriment is also helping other less fortunate people” says Puneet Singh, General Manager of Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre.

Last year’s cookie decorating activity at the Kempinski Chalet attracted hundreds of children keen to design their dream cookies and help others at the same time. The money collected helped the Palm Association support Bahraini women who have financial difficulties due to the death of a spouse, divorce, disability or illness. The Palm Association makes a difference in their lives by providing food boxes on a monthly basis through the “Feed a Family Project”, home improvements and donations of large electrical appliances through “Project Rebuild” and assistance and sponsorship for “Educational Endeavours”.
