Manama, July 3, 2013: To capture the spirit of giving during this Holy Month of Ramadan, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre is launching several CSR projects to give back to the local community, including a Blood Donation drive in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, a used clothing collection drive for the Helping Hands and Philippine Embassy’s shelter, and a Spice Art Charity Exhibition and Sale for Alia for Early Intervention.
In its first charity project to start off the Month of Giving on July 1st, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and overseen by doctors from Salmaniya Medical Complex, held a blood donation drive for its employees. Employees from every department participated in the blood donation drive. Staff members from Bahrain City Centre were also invited to donate.
Starting on the first day of Ramadan and continuing for the entire month, Kempinski employees are also encouraged to gather their unused clothes and shoes for a clothing collection drive to the Helping Hands society who distributes them to the needy workers. Household items, such as linens, towels and basic kitchen utensils and non-perishable foods are also accepted in the donation. Women’s clothing will be donated to the Philippine Embassy’s shelter.
In a third charity project, it is not only the palate that gets delighted in Kempinski’s Arabic restaurant, Baharat, this Holy Month, but also the eyes and the soul. Kempinski is holding an exhibition of Spice Art created by talented local artists – a tradition started with the official opening of the restaurant in January 2013 – with the special Ramadan theme of Art of Giving. The ambitious artists in the country embraced the challenge with gusto, and Kempinski will display a selection of pieces from nine local artists throughout Baharat during the Holy Month. Every Spice Art piece is on sale to the diners, and all proceeds will go to a local charity, Alia for Early Intervention, and the deserving artists.
Quote from Puneet Singh, General Manager:
“Ramadan is a wonderful time of year to embrace our community and give to those less fortunate. At Kempinski, we aim to actively contribute to the local community year-round, but within the sincere spirit of Ramadan, we are diversifying our usual CSR initiatives by getting everyone involved and reaching out to different local charity organizations,” said Puneet Singh, General Manager.
