Doha, March 2013: 24 media representatives from various Qatari publications attended a media dinner hosted by Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre at Kempinski Residences & Suites, Doha, Qatar for an informative evening about Bahrain and its Kempinski property, in a bid to encourage coverage of Bahrain as a destination for Qatari business and leisure travellers.
Nestled in the heart of the island’s fashionable Seef district and connected to Bahrain’s biggest leisure and entertainment destination, Bahrain City Centre, with over 340 retail outlets showcasing high street and designer brands, and a wide range of entertainment facilities including an indoor Wahooo! Waterpark and a 20 screen Cineplex, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre has claimed its place as a top choice for travellers from Qatar, for both leisure and business purposes. The Qatari market has proven to be a significant potential for the Kempinski Bahrain property, being the second largest nationality to frequent the hotel since its opening.
The media dinner was enjoyed by 24 journalists and editors across 20 publications, from leisure and lifestyle monthly magazines to daily newspapers, who attended a gourmet 3-course dinner and brief presentation on Bahrain and the property hosted by a team from Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre, including the General Manager, Director of Sales and Marketing and Public Relations Manager.
At the end of the night, six lucky journalists won stays at Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre and dinners at Kempinski Residences & Suites, Doha, in a raffle draw.
“As Manama was awarded the title of ‘Capital of Arab Tourism 2013’ by the Arab Tourism Ministers, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre is focused on doing our part to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain as a destination for business and tourism this year. Qatar already is a significant market for our property, representing the second largest nationality of guests who visit our hotel, and we hope to continue to encourage this flow of business and leisure travellers from Qatar into Bahrain,” said Puneet Singh, General Manager, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre.
“I would like to thank our sister property, Kempinski Residences & Suites, Doha, for helping us host this successful event, and look forward to more collaboration between our two properties to promote both Bahrain and Qatar as destinations for travellers in both countries in the future.”
Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, Kempinski Hotels, opened the property in Bahrain on September 7, 2011, marking the arrival of its first five-star city hotel in the Kingdom, just a one-hour drive from Saudi Arabia and a 25-minute flight from Doha.
Building on their success in the region, Kempinski Hotels have plans to expand its presence in Doha with its second property, a new luxurious resort hotel, scheduled to open in 2015.
