Manama, June 4 2013: 150 students aged 6 to 7 years from the British School of Bahrain visited Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre over the course of two days for a unique, interactive look into the life of five-star hospitality, through activities involving the Culinary and Housekeeping staff, with collaboration from Magic Planet in Bahrain City Centre.
75 young and energetic boys and girls from three separate classes visited the property on each day. Within one busy morning organized in rotation, the students were exposed to two influential departments in the hotel: Culinary and Housekeeping. The Culinary activity, led by Executive Chef Stefanos Melianos and his team, gave the children a chance to cut cookies for the hotel’s weekend guests. Each child was also given a box of cookies to take home to enjoy with their family and friends.
During the Housekeeping activity, Executive Housekeeper Cornelia Zschunke and her team led the children on a tour of the laundry facilities. The children were then shown a demonstration on how to fill a Housekeeping trolley, and organized into groups of 5 to participate in a competition. The group able to fill the trolley in the fastest time and the neatest manner won a prize – a Camelo Club mug for each child.
The third activity allowed children to have a free play at Magic Planet’s Foam Factory, located on the third floor of Bahrain City Centre.
A first for the Kempinski Bahrain property, the staff were eager to show a snapshot of their work to the British School students. Multiple staff members from different departments participated to make this experience memorable for the children. Each child also left Kempinski with a bag of goodies, including a colouring book, dominos, and a Kempinski hat.
