The American Bar
Charles Guano, the former head barman of the American Bar worked here for 42 years. His legacy and that of the first head barman Louis Crozet still remain. Now overseen by Charles' young protege, Benoit Provost, a visit to the American Bar is mandatory!
The American Bar is so called because in the early 1930s the West End hotels started to cater for the ever-growing American market crossing the Atlantic aboard the multitude of ocean-going liners, long before the 747 was ever thought possible. The intrepid travelers from North America brought with them such exotic drinks as Manhattans, Martinis, and Sidecars. Read the entire story here!
Since 1930 patrons of the bar have left memorabilia as their personal gift and to mark their place in time and history. It’s the London bar to see, and be seen in. Be part of the heritage and mystique that is the American Bar, come and discover yourself! Welcome to the American Bar!
