The dish awarded as Kempinski Dessert of the year represents the best out of our patisserie. The dessert is the result of an annual competition involving all Kempinski chefs.
The competition started at the ITB in Berlin. A total of 66 desserts were entered in the 2014 Kempinski Dessert of the Year contest. First, the top ten desserts were preselected, which were graded on a scale of 100 points. The top five desserts entered the finals. A jury comprising 100 journalists and 20 Kempinski general managers and board members judged the desserts during a blind tasting.
Siam Passion was selected as the winner. The dessert is a combination of passion fruit, coconut, mango and banana. Chef Alfred Merkel of the Kempinski Hotel Bangkok and his team prepared this dessert. He said, “For me, it is what Kempinski stands for: a collection of individual deluxe hotels with European flair.”
