Hop on the Sticks and off in the Snow...
Ski-in and Ski-out: from the Das Tirol Hotel directly into the Kitzbühel Alps

Warm ski boots, the latest skis and only a very short walk from the ski room to the slopes. Ski-in, ski-out – into one of the largest ski areas in the Alps with guaranteed snow cover and currently 40 centimetres of snow stretching down as far as the valley. That spells skiing in the five-star hotel Das Tirol, the first Kempinski hotel in Austria which opened on 7 December 2011, just in time for the current ski season. It is also the only luxury hotel of this kind in Kitzbühel and the surrounding area that offers direct access to the slopes.

The slopes in the Kitzbühel Alps are counted among the most well-known and popular ski areas and have all different levels. Broad slopes for carving pleasure and the most difficult slope in the world are all found in this ski area. The “Streif” is as legendary as it is challenging, and every year in January it is the venue for the Alpine World Cup. Next year, the Hahnenkamm race will take place from 20 to 22 January: gradients of up to 85 percent, jumps of up to 80 meters, speeds of up to 140 km/h. Mausefalle, Steilhang, Hausbergkante. The prize money is 550,000 euros.

Until April, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy a vast winter wonderland every day: 170 km of groomed slopes on a surface of 690 hectares. 69 km of blue runs, 77 km of red runs and 24 km of black runs, or in other words, 22 easy, 25 intermediate and 13 difficult slopes. One snow park. And there is terrain for deep snow skiing and ski touring as far as the eye can see. There are also cable cars, modern chair lifts and a number of drag lifts and conveyer belts.

Those who don’t feel safe on two narrow boards or on one broad one can register for skiing or snowboarding lessons – in a group or with a private instructor – directly at the Das Tirol hotel. For those who want to learn or those who want to improve and refine their technique. For children and adults. For beginners, those who want to take it up again and advanced skiers. Not only the instructor is available at the hotel, but the equipment can also be rented there. The latest skis for all mountain enthusiasts: carving skis, twin-tip skis for deep snow, touring skis and the most modern cross-country skis are on offer at Sport Etz, the in-house shop. It also provides the full range of safety equipment including helmets and protectors, as well as toboggans and all sorts of fun equipment, not to mention first-class service for the own material.

Ski-in, ski-out – the guests of the Kempinski hotel Das Tirol have chosen one of the most beautiful and uncomplicated locations in the area. It is easy enough to stop by the patisserie in the lobby at lunch time in order to enjoy a tasty sandwich or a delicious piece of cake accompanied by an aromatic cup of coffee. Or ending the last ski run of the day directly in the champagne bar on the terrace of the hotel. It is of particular value – having a couple of minutes more in the morning in the Steinberg restaurant to enjoy the crusty farmhouse bread and savoury cheese from the region. After all, there’s no need to take a shuttle to the ski lift.

Moreover the guests have front row seats in case the weather doesn’t play along, since the alternative programme is also first-class: Kempinski The Spa belongs to the Leading Spas of the World. 3,600 m² where the body is the focus. Going for a swim, enjoying the saunas and relaxation. Cosmetic treatments, massages, physiotherapy. Local timber and Tyrolean mountain herbs: the emphasis is on mountain wellness. Haki and holistic cocooning. Relaxation areas with 4-senses loungers, Relax Cubes, warm waterbeds and a meditation room with a fireplace. And always with a view of the outside – just in case the weather does in fact change and the mountain is calling.

Das Tirol offers Kitzbühel Ski Special packages for three, five or seven nights. The package includes a ski pass for each person for two, four or six days depending on the number of nights in the hotel, breakfast buffet and evening meal in the hotel and entrance to Kempinski The Spa. Depending on the duration of the stay, two people pay 906 euros, 1532 euros or 2136 euros for the superior double room.
