Munich, 10 September 2013 - Getting from the hotel room to the slopes even faster – with the new Wagstättbahn cable car, it is a shorter distance to the skiing area of the Kitzbühel Alps, and getting there is more direct and above all more comfortable. A gondola for 10 people providing every comfort transports up to 2,400 winter guests per hour to the summit station. Finally no more queuing and waiting. And the seat heating in the gondola which leaves from close to the only Kempinski hotel in Tirol is pure luxury – both to keep the muscles warm and to provide a comfortable and cozy ride up to Wurzhöhe Mountain.
Das Tirol is and remains the only five-star hotel in Kitzbühel and the surrounding area which provides direct access to the slopes. Ski-in and ski-out directly from a well arranged and heated ski storage room on the ground floor. It is only a short trip on the ski lift which leaves right from the exit of the Kempinski Alpine Sport Shop – and an exciting day in the Kitzbühel Alps can begin. Whether you’re a skier or snowboarder, taking some time to explore the slopes or racing down at full speed – the wide range of 170 kilometers of slopes over a surface of 450 hectares which has won many awards caters for all tastes. And going up is faster than ever, six meters per second to be precise, which means only seven minutes to climb the 1,169 meter long and completely new route.
The construction of the new Wagstättbahn also brings a couple of improvements to the slope, a kind of side effect as it were, as the existing route of the tow lift on the Wagstätt-Wurz slope will become part of the slope, it will be integrated in the Wurzhöhe ski surface and covered with snow. The sections at the bottom which used to be a little narrow will therefore be broadened and the inclination will be flattened out so the slope will be a comfortable one for various levels.
As easily as the guests get to the skiing area they can now get back and stop for a delicious break in the homely atmosphere of the Kempinski hotel Das Tirol. In the sunshine on the terrace against the backdrop of the impressive Alpine scenery, the sweet specialties taste absolutely delighting. Or you might fancy a glass of chilled champagne to unwind.
Between this break and dinner in one of the two top class restaurants – with alpine, down-to-earth cuisine in the Steinberg or Asian style in Sra Bua – the spa provides a wide range of beneficial massages and treatments not only for active winter sports fans. Body and soul get a rest and are invigorated for another day on the slopes in one of the most beautiful skiing areas of Tirol.
