Our hotel is located near Savudrija, the westernmost point of Croatia, in the picturesque Istrian countryside. Thanks to good road connections, from here you can easily explore Istria’s unspoiled and mountainous interior as well as the coast. For instance, it will take you a maximum of one and a half hours to reach Pula (on the southernmost tip of the Istrian peninsula) from the hotel.
As you travel, breathtaking scenery is all around. Wherever you go, you will be welcomed with Istria’s well known sense of friendliness and hospitality. Wherever you look, you will recognise the marks of the past and the influences left behind by the Byzantine Empire, the Franks, the patriarch of Aquileia, the Venetian Republic, Napoleon and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. There are so many beautiful towns and villages it's simply not possible to name all of them. We have highlighted some here in our local information section.
You can enjoy a variety of activities, such as tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, badminton, horseback riding, jogging, hiking and biking, both along the coast and in the inlands. Did you know that there are almost 500 km of bike trails in Istria? For those adventurous spirits among you, we definitely recommend paragliding and diving. The interior of the Istrian peninsula is perfect for paragliding. Rich plant and animal life of the Adriatic Sea around underwater walls, reefs, caves and shipwrecks will enchant all passionate divers. Of course, summer is perfect for water sports and you will surely enjoy them as well as the beautiful beaches along the coastline, especially since air temperatures in July and August are generally higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Istria is famous for its pebbly beaches and there are many hidden coves waiting to be discovered.
Have you heard about unforgettable Istrian gourmet experiences? The green and blue Istria has truly given its people the flavours which make their local cuisine so special. The variety of tastes is endless and we recommend them all: Istrian prosciutto, local cheeses, a marvellous choice of fresh seafood from the Adriatic, homemade pasta, healthy and tasty vegetables, black and white truffles and wild asparagus. You simply must try wild asparagus in the spring and fresh white truffles during autumn.
The connection between the Istrian people and wine is very special and that’s why Istrian winemakers are passionate about producing remarkable wines, especially when it comes to the famous and widespread Istrian Malvasia, Teran, Refosk and Muskat. Last, but not least, we want to single out the exquisite golden liquid which will definitely circle the flavour of every Istrian dish. Istrian olive oil is famous worldwide for its quality and is one of the best souvenirs you can take with you to remind you of the remarkable journey to Istria. It will make you come back for more...
Enjoy Istria and have a memorable stay with Kempinski!
