Geneva, March 2013

Since February 2013, the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva is one of the first properties in Geneva to accept the Union Pay card, meaning Chinese guests can pay by card instead of cash. This decision comes from a substantial expansion in Chinese tourists in terms of their market share. Swiss Tourism expects Chinese guests to spend more than 2 million nights in Switzerland from now until 2020.

“Asia is becoming increasingly important for the hotel business. All prestigious hotel brands are there. But if their travels to Switzerland increase, Chinese guests are more likely to choose 3 or 4-star hotels. Their attraction to our country is significant and we hope that in a couple of years they will change their habits in order to experience an entire luxury stay from A to Z” says Thierry Lavalley, the General Manager of the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva.

The Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva is striving to be more open to the Chinese market and is one of the first hotels to offer them the most convenient.
