Bosphorale - Kempinski's Dessert of the Year 2013

Dark, decadent and downright delectable, Bosphorale is more than just your average chocolate cake. Created by Executive Chef and Master Chocolatier William McCarrick of Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul, this sinfully delicious creation, made with rich dark chocolate and flavored with rehydrated apricots, orange flavouring and Earl Grey tea has also been crowned Kempinski’s “Dessert of the Year” for 2013. Not an easy feat, considering that the recipe had to beat out 50 other worthy contestants in order to secure the title.

Bosphorale is only the second dessert to hold this special distinction, and in order to choose Kempinski’s “Dessert of the Year”, pastry chefs were invited to submit an original recipe with some very specific guidelines: the key ingredient had to be chocolate, the dessert had to be presentable both as an individual cake served on a plate, and it could not be a soufflé, dessert à la minute or ice cream.

After being sampled by 80 executive chefs via blind tasting, the richly decadent dessert emerged victorious during the finale at Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains St Moritz.  

The “Dessert of the Year” is offered at all Kempinski hotels throughout the year. In fact customers can sample Bosphorale FREE every Sunday throughout the month of December at Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva’s FloorTwo Lounge.
