Frankfurt is perhaps best known as the largest financial centre in mainland Europe, but it's so much more than that: a historic and cultural city awash with lush green spaces, it has something to offer every traveller.

Welcome to Frankfurt

Frankfurt's futuristic, skyscraper-studded skyline is testament to its status as a modern centre of commerce and industry, but it is at the same time a beautiful and green city that offers plenty of ways to relax. As the "gateway to Europe", Frankfurt is also a major transport hub, with the country's busiest airport and the intersection of many railway lines and autobahns.

Frankfurt is also a historic city, established more than a millennium ago and in parts dating back to the Roman Empire. The Römerberg square at the heart of the city contains some of its oldest and most interesting buildings, and a great selection of museums dedicated to art, history and the natural world can be found all around the city.
