FAI-World Parachuting Championships MONDIAL 2012 Dubai
The United Arab Emirates will host the World Parachuting Championships 2012 for the first time in Dubai from 28 November to 09 December 2012.
The Championships are expected to have unprecedented participation with regard to the numbers of countries, parachutists and competitions. Experts expect the number of parachutists will amount to more than 800, who will participate in competitions of formation formation skydiving, canopy formations, accurate landing, canopy piloting, over water, freefall flying, freefall style and para skiing for the first time in the Middle East. Skydive Dubai in Marina, Dubai will be the site of the competitions - it is just outside the Palm Island, so it is in a very close proximity from Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah.
The importance of the Championships arises from the fact that its organization will coincide with the United Arab Emirates' celebrations of the 41st National Day on 2 December, which attract many visitors and tourists every year. The Higher Organizing Committee of the Championships, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Championships, and His Excellency Matar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Higher Committee, launched the Logo for the Mondial which takes the design of a parachute with a skydiver, and the parachute sympolises flag of the United Arab Emirates, with its four colours – green, white, black and red, and the name and period of the Championships. The Championships' website will be also launched in order for anyone to have access to information and preparations before the start, conditions of participation in each competition and their altitude, rules and judgement, supported by photos. Hundreds and thousands of people around the world will be able to follow the activities, competitions and results of the Championships directly. The website further provides information about the United Arab Emirates, tourist sites and the three previous successful Dubai International Parachuting Championships, which were attended by members of the FAI. The website will also be provided with news items published by the media before, during and after the Championships.
