Education, Awareness and Action to Stop TB

Hotel dedicates World Tuberculosis Day to spreading the word on what it will take to cure the deadly disease in our lifetime.

Dubai, March 26, 2012: Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates joined Kempinski properties around the world in a call to action to Stop TB in Our Lifetime on March 24, World Tuberculosis Day.

Staff and guests were encouraged to participate in a fund raising drive to raise funds to buy treatment courses for TB sufferers, HIV patients at risk of acquiring the disease and TB patients in recovery.

The awareness and fund raising campaign is part of a broader Kempinski Corporate campaign, run in partnership with the Stop TB Partnership, which saw properties support the cause through individually organized awareness events for the fourth consecutive year.

All funds raised through the donation drive will be donated directly to the Stop TB Partnership. Guest letters and awareness messages on welcome screens across the hotel served as a call to action to guests, highlighting how little it would take from an individual to help eradicate the infectious disease that causes millions of deaths worldwide.

“People often do not realise that all it takes is a small gesture of generosity to potentially save a life. Kempinski takes spreading this message seriously as TB is a disease that continues to affect lives in many countries we operate in and yet it’s a disease that is completely curable. Education, awareness and action can help us achieve the campaign’s goal, which is to stop TB in our lifetime,” said Alejandro Bernabé, General Manager at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.
