Meet the team - Concierge

This week we interviewed the one and only Gerardo Gabat, our Chief Concierge, to find out what he and his team do to ensure our guests have a successful stay and memorable experience.

Gerardo has been a concierge for seven years and is extremely passionate about his work. He started his career in front office operations and expanded his experience into Concierge services when the opportunity came up.“There are new challenges, surprises, interesting and unusual guests requests each day,” said Gerardo with a smile on his face.

For the past three years Gerardo has been the Executive Committee member of Les Clefs d’Or UAE and he is also a member of the Dubai Concierge Group, both of which strive to improve the concierge profession.

Having lived in the UAE for over nine years has made Gerardo an Expert on Dubai and the things to do in our amazing city. He is keen to constantly seek information on what’s new and what’s happening in the city and the surrounding Emirates. Ask him anything and he will give you the insider’s tips about Dubai and the UAE in general!

No requests are too tough for Gerardo and his team. If you’re looking to have a last minute booking at an exclusive restaurant or need assistance with something that seems mission impossible for you to do on your own, you might be surprised how Gerardo and his team can work their magic to make sure your wishes come true.

Here’s an interesting situation that Gerardo came across and managed to go beyond guests’ expectation.

“Recently, a guest bought a pet dog to be brought to Cairo, Egypt. The guest was not too sure about the rules when it comes to bringing his pet to Egypt,” said Gerardo. “After explaining to the guest what the basic requirements were, I called up Emirates Airlines get the documents and found out that approval would take at least seven days and the guest was leaving in just three days! I did everything in my power to expedite the approval and worked with Emirates Airlines to get the paperwork released in time for their departure. The dog was a wish from the guest’s son who suffers from autism and I just had to make it happen and make his little boy happy.”
