Let 2014 be even ‘greener’
2013… What a fantastic year it has been… And now the best part of the year is left; the time when the holidays arrive and the festive season cheer is upon us. But it is also that time of the year when many of us think ahead and make our New Year’s resolutions. They say losing weight is the most common New Year’s Resolution people tend to make, whilst it is also the one most people break…
We decided to pay a visit to our Engineering Department at the hotel to find out what their resolutions are for 2014. Would it be to lose weight? Well their answer might surprise you, they want to further advance the green initiatives across the hotel…
We are proud of the green initiatives we are undertaking at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, and our engineering department plays a big role when it comes to the implementation of these initiatives.
Here is how Engineering plans to make the hotel even greener in 2014:
- Through installation of a solar water heating system, which will reduce the gas consumption of the hotel. This is on top of their wish list.
- LED lights are used across all of our guest rooms and the driveways and this has had a phenomenal reduction of our electricity consumption. This year the Engineering department is looking to install the remaining LED lights in those places where they are not yet used.
- Implement a more effective waste segregation management system. At the moment we segregate paper, glass, used oil, plastic and metal. Engineering wants to make this process even more efficient and reduce general waste.
The Engineering team is on top of its game when it comes to sustainability and it is always exciting to learn from them about the latest techniques and trends used in the industry. We can’t wait to see how their New Year’s Resolution evolves and hope that they will be able to achieve their goals…
Well this is a fantastic way to kick off 2014. Let us know what your New Year’s Resolutions are!
