International Short Film Festival

Each year in April, the Film Festival Dresden attracts more than 16,000 visitors, including nearly 500 industry experts. During six days the best short films from
all over the world are shown.
The first Film Festival Dresden was introduced in 1989 – today it is one of the most important festivals in the "short film genre" in Germany. It belongs to the most highly paid short film festivals in Europe – with money prizes amounting to EUR 64,000.
The international and national competition is the highlight of the programme.
Around 70 films from 20 countries will be projected on the screen. For this occasion, around 2,000 feature and animation films from 80 countries nearby will apply, provided that the film is not older than two years and does not have a length longer than
In the end, the best short films will be chosen in various of categories – eight Golden Horsemen and prize money amounting to EUR 64,000 will be awarded.
There are also various special programmes with a focus on different countries and topics.
