21th Moritzburg Festival

Moritzburg Castle

Under the artistic management of Jan Vogler, the annual festival of Chamber Music will take place in Moritzburg and its surroundings.

In various sites, from the Church of Our Lady Dresden to Proschwitz Castle, and of course the Moritzburg Castle itself, national and international musicians will present themselves in various sound compositions.

The central theme of the programme lies in the folk music that has inspired well-known composers like Brahms or Haydn and premieres new interpretations of the young artists.

As the prelude to the festival, the opening concert of the Moritzburg Castle Orchestra, under the direction of Heinrich Schiff, will take place on Saturday, 9 August at 7:30pm at the Transparent Factory of Volkswagen in Dresden.

At this time, guests also have the chance to visit composer’s talks and public rehearsals along with the concerts.

Tickets are obtainable at the tourist information desks of Dresden, Radebeul and Moritzburg, as well as at the visitor service “Weisse Gasse” in Dresden, or at the box-office one hour before the beginning of the event.
