July 23th, 2013: The Kempinski Hotel Chongqing is very pleased and honoured to welcome Mr. Peter Barry, owner and son of the legendary founder of Jim Barry Winery from Australia, to an exquisite wine dinner at our Restaurant
The Thai Cook.

Jim Barry is a legendary Clare Valley identity. Since 1959, Jim Barry Wines reflect the Barry family’s commitment to making wines with an emphasis on quality and enjoyment. Renowned for their infectious enthusiasm and flair, the Barry family are keepers of this unique winemaking tradition. Jim Barry wines are considered amongst the very best of Australia and we are especially proud to offer our guests the opportunity to sample his Lodge Hill Riesling 2012, Lodge Hill Shiraz 2010, The McRae Wood Shiraz 2009, First Eleven Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 and the rare The Armagh with vintages of 1999, 2002 and 2008; paired with a delectable 5-course degustation set-menu that compliments the flavours and aromas of Jim Barry’s wine selection.

Kempinski Hotels have a long standing tradition and connection to the art of making wines as in fact our company evolved from a wine shop, founded by Berthold Kempinski in Berlin in 1889. Due to the success of his revolutionary wine selling concepts, the very first Kempinski Hotel was founded in 1897, on the location of the now Kempinski Hotel Bristol in Berlin. Ever since, Kempinski Hotels are renowned as a destination to enjoy the fine drinks of the gods around the globe. As with the words of Mr. Dirk Reinhardt, Executive Assistant Manager of Kempinski Hotel Chongqing: “We are committed to provide the perfect venue to our guests to interact with internationally recognized winemakers, offer enlightening stories around the grape and invite our distinguished guests to appreciate fine wines.”
