Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest supports charitable causes for the benefit of the local community. By providing financial aid and offering active engagement in outreach projects, the entire Kempinski Corvinus community has been personally involved in making local lives better by dedicating not just financial resources but time, labour and love.

We find it essential that charity be not just a corporate cause but come from our employees’ own heart-felt passion to help out. We encourage private donations, of gifts as well as time, of our staff, and as a result they have offered books, toys, clothes, private lessons and their own personal fund raising efforts with care, concern and open hands to those who have less but deserve more.

Every cause is different, so we bring bespoke solutions to each and every one of them to make the most of our efforts. We make that happen because we truly believe it is the actions of our individual staff that make a difference on the ground. It is a concerted team effort: we make our donation as one, as the socially responsible corporation that is Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest. However, we also contribute as individuals, whose efforts and dedication make the hotel’s charity efforts even stronger and the changes in the lives of our beneficiaries even better.

Bolyai Children's Home

Bolyai Children's HomeBolyai Children's Home and its children have been beneficiaries of the hotel’s charitable activities and personal attention since its opening 20 years ago. Amongst the many projects that the Kempinski Corvinus staff has volunteered to implement, we fondly remember the Sales Team adding a fresh coat of paint to the fence and accessories in the playground. Every year, the hotel organises fun parties on the major holidays the way that only the Kempinski Corvinus team can. Every year, the home’s children are invited to celebrate at an annual Santa Claus Party with the Kempinski Corvinus staff. Other diversions include Kempinski Corvinus-organised treats such as Easter egg painting with Hungary's Pop Idols, visits to the zoo and private tours at exhibitions. Kempinski Corvinus also sees a role for itself in proactively establishing a network for the home, through which it can connect with other supporters. Commercial channel TV2, for example, invited the children to be in the audience for their children's shows.

Bator Tabor

Bátor TáborHungary’s Bátor Tábor (‘Camp of the Brave’) provides active vacations to children suffering from cancer or chronic conditions, to improve stamina and provide carefree diversions during a time of gruelling therapies. Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest has been a sponsor of Bátor Tábor’s fund raising events, which have included a golf tournament, since the opening of the camp. We offer valuable prizes for the silent and public auctions and donate our state-of-the-art event space to host the evening charity gala that follows the tournament and concludes the fund raising. In 2012, one of our staff joined the Élménykülönítmény (‘Experience Squad’), a charity sports club that supports the Bátor Tábor Foundation, and ran in the Budapest Marathon on 27 October. There were 257 enthusiastic runners representing the Bátor Tábor cause, raising not only the foundation’s public profile but also funds, far above expectations! Hungarian Baptist Aid

Hungarian Baptist AidKempinski Hotel Corvinus started cooperating with the Hungarian Baptist Aid programme in 2010. First, we set up a collection box in the hotel’s lobby, for guests and visitors to donate to the victims of the toxic red sludge spill that had hit Hungarian villages that year. Later, the hotel hosted a group of children from the affected area for lunch in the hotel’s summer terrace, where they enjoyed a surprise visit from Pop Idol winner Viktor Király. Since that time, we have collected gifts, which go into a shoe box, at a charity dinner in the hotel every December. The charity dinner benefits Hungarian children in need. The gifts-in-a-shoebox project is the Baptist Aid programme’s Christmas initiative, which started several years ago, for the benefit of children suffering from any existential hardship. In addition to the original charity partnership, the Kempinski Corvinus Sales Team also joined forces with corporate partners and have been taking food and clothes donations in person to large families in need. Maltese Charity

Maltese CharityKempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest’s support for Maltese Charity dates back a long time, in two ways. On the one hand, the Maltese Charity receives the hotel’s used bedding and bathrobes. On the other hand, Kempinski Corvinus has provided dinner for 120 homeless people at Maltese Charity’s shelter at Nyugati Railway Station every Wednesday for several years now.

Csodalámpa Wish Fulfilling Foundation

Csodalámpa - Charity by Kempinski Hotel Corvinus BudapestThe mission of Csodalámpa Alapítvány (‘Magic Lamp Wish-Fulfilling Foundation’) is to grant a wish to any child aged from 3 to 18 who suffers from a life-threatening illness and whose family cannot afford to fulfil that wish. By making a cherished wish come true, the Foundation aims to make the life of these children a little bit happier, if only for a few hours or days. In December 2011, 11-year-old Tomi and 16-year-old Bence, two boys suffering from a severe condition, travelled to Barcelona, where a long-held dream of theirs came true: they cheered for their favourite team, Barcelona FC, in the Camp Nou stadium. Their wish was supported by the Wish Kitchen branch of the Foundation, to which Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest donated the ingredients and the venue while our Executive Chef
Roland Holzer prepared the dinner.   Official Website of Csodalámpa Foundation
