Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014

Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok voted as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014

Diners Club® World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy awarded the restaurant for the second year

Bangkok: 13 March 2014: Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok has been recognised, for a second consecutive year, as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2014 according to an official announcement made at the gala event, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Aqua Panna, in Singapore.

“We are extremely proud to not only have been recognized for a second time but also to have progressed in the ranking on the list,” said Henrik Yde-Andersen, the founder of Kiin Kiin and the conceptual chef of Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin. “Without the great teamwork of our talented local chef team together with the heart-warming service staff, this wonderful achievement would not have been possible”. Kiin Kiin in Copenhagen is currently the only Thai restaurant in the world holding a Michelin star.

“It is extremely rewarding to be listed as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants again this year,” said Alejandro Bernabe, general manager of Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok and vice president of Kempinski Hotels for Southeast Asia with a humble smile. “Bangkok is a well-known food destination with a variety of restaurants from street vendors to sophisticated restaurants. Tourists and local wine and food lovers enjoy exploring the town to see what is new. We work very hard to ensure that each meal goes beyond a regular dining experience but becomes in fact a culinary journey. Our thanks go to chef Henrik for his commitment to grow this restaurant together with us.

SraBua by Kiin Kiin offers a modern interpretation of Thai cuisine by using Western cooking technique and presentation. Behind beautifully composed food presentations, the familiar flavours of traditional dishes are maintained with the use of the freshest ingredients including produce from H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s royal projects in Thailand’s northern region.

The restaurant recently introduced a new lounge area for pre-dinner cocktails. “We wanted to introduce the same dining concepts of the original Kiin Kiin in Copenhagen where the lounge area is separated from the formal dining table. It allows guests to mingle and to warm up their conversations before their food journey begins,” said Anskar Schlemmer, director of food and beverage at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.

Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin is open daily for lunch from 12.00pm to 3.00pm (a la carte only) and for dinner from 6.00pm to midnight. Dinner includes a choice of set menus and a la carte offerings. The menu is reviewed and updated every two months by Chef Henrik Yde-Andersen who is a regular visitor to Bangkok.
