Mahé, Seychelles, March 1, 2012: KempinskiSeychellesResort held a festive grand opening at its newly opened resort on island of Mahé. Guests of the event reveled in the celebration as fireworks lit up the sky over Baie Lazare, international performers regaled them with song and dance, and the fragrance of exotic flavours filled the air.

Guests included minsters and dignitaries from the Seychelles and neighboring countries, leaders in the travel industry, guests of the resort, and more than 90 top-tier journalists from around the world. The CEO of Kempinski Hotels, Mr. Reto Wittwer, and Kempinski President of Middle East, Africa & Indian Ocean, Mr. Ulrich Eckhardt were also in attendance for the grand opening event.

Kempinski’s first property to open in the Seychelles, the stunning five-star resort is located in an exclusive corner of Baie Lazare, on the island of Mahé. Nestled under dramatic granite hills, with views of the azure waters of the bay, the 150 well-appointed rooms and suites are just steps away from the pristine beach. A lush lagoon winds its way around 63 hectares of verdant gardens on the resort.

Guests of the event explored the property throughout the course of the evening, which showcased the resort’s dining, wellness, and leisure facilities. Two restaurants and two bars offer a variety of dining options for guests. The resort is home to one of the largest ballrooms in the Seychelles, which seats up to 200 and boasts natural daylight and serene views over the lagoon. A modern fitness centre is open 24 hours for fitness fanatics, and the water sports centre provides endless opportunities for aqua adventurers to explore the crystal waters and nearby coral reefs. Younger guests will appreciate the Kempinski Kids Club with its own shaded pool and on-going activities. The blissful Kempinski The Spa, lit with colorful lanterns for the celebration, sits at the base of the granite hills and is surrounded by fragrant grasses and blooming trees, providing a secluded sanctuary for guests to indulge in Kempinski’s signature spa services in private treatment rooms.

Commenting on the highly anticipated opening of the Kempinski Seychelles Resort, General Manager, Pierre Stacher said, “Tonight is a celebration of Kempinski’s debut in the Seychelles, and Baie Lazare is the perfect setting for this stunning property. This resort combines the rich natural beauty of the Seychelles with Kempinski’s signature European luxury.
