Mahé, Seychelles, Sunday 24 March 2013: Approximately 2 million people die of TB each year. The disease remains a growing global concern and Kempinski supports the cause, in conjunction with the World Health Organization, on a corporate, regional and hotel level. Shortly after opening 1 March 2012, Kempinski Seychelles Resort rolled out the STOP TB campaign locally to all employees. This year the theme STOP TB In My Life Time, resonated throughout the resort.
A seminar took place at the Resort and hosted guest speaker, Mr. Justin Ferminot from the Seychelles Communicable Disease Control Unit. TB cases for Seychelles are minimal with 21 cases reported in 2012. A country with a total population of less than 100,000, it remains on the forefront of discussions to ensure elimination and prevention. The implications of a TB breakout will bear sever adverse effects on a country of this size and dynamics. With employees from nine different countries and guests from various parts of the world, it is top priority for Kempinski Seychelles Resort to educate and continue awareness of the effects of the disease.
The message was continued in the Blue Ocean Cafeteria with the management serving the team lunch and grabbing any opportunity to engage with anyone who missed the presentation.
