Over 110 years of Hospitality
Kempinski Hotels is the oldest luxury hotel collection in the world and the only truly European luxury hotel group, having acquired its first property in 1897. Kempinski Hotels is the trading name for Kempinski Aktiengesellschaft, an independent German delisted AG, which is involved in a number of hotel- and hospitality-related businesses, including conference, catering and hotel supplies.
Kempinski Hotels now owns and operates an international portfolio of 55 Hotels that reflect the finest traditions of European hospitality, and has the largest portfolio representation in Leading Hotels of the World. A further 52 Hotels are either under final development or construction in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
In Germany, Kempinski AG owns the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Munich and operates a number of properties including the famous Hotel Adlon in Berlin, the Hotel Atlantic in Hamburg and the legendary Resort Hotel Heiligendamm at the German Baltic Sea.
During the 1980s, through its close co-operation with Lufthansa Airlines, the company expanded into a number of international destinations in Eastern Europe and Asia. In line with this rapid growth, in 1986, the company founded a 100% subsidiary, Kempinski Hotels S.A., which is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and is responsible for handling all activities outside of Germany.
Since then, Kempinski can look back on a successful international expansion into 20 countries. Among its international properties are such legendary names as Istanbul's Ciragan Palace Hotel, the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, the Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz, and the Hotel Baltschug in Moscow.
Kempinski Hotels has significantly broadened its leisure portfolio since the opening of its first resort hotel in 1996.
